Everret & Margaret Brown open Browns Auto Service at the corner of 9th and Howard with 4 bays and 3 employees.
 
Expansion begins. Jim Brown joins the family business and Brown's Auto Service is moved to 4405 Montana Ave. now with sevens bays and gas pumps.
 
With the growing demand for a quality product Brown's moves to its present location of 1144 Broadwater and becomes Brown's Automatic Transmission Repair and Exchange now with over 7000 square feet and 10 bays.
 
Everett Brown retires.
 
The demand for our general auto repair became so great that a new division was created. Browns Auto Service opens its doors at 1122 Broadwater allowing the general auto repair and the transmission repair businesses to expand giving Browns 18 bays.
 
The growth of Automatic Transmission Company led to the building of the present location at 1313 St. Ave North and giving Browns 31 automotive bays.
 
Browns transmission are now sold thru the Car Quest Auto parts stores in Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, & Idaho
 
Gene Hetmer son-in-law of Jim Brown joins the family business.
 
After 30 years the original building at 1144 Broadwater needs a face-lift. The building is completely renovated and built back up with a 3000 square foot expansion. The new facility is built to service cars for the new millennium. With this remodel Browns now has 13 lifts.
 
Precision Power Trains in Billings is purchased giving Brown's Auto the opportunity to grow its rapidly growing general auto repair business. This new location in located in the fastest growing part of Billings. Browns now employ’s almost 50 people.
 
Robert Bosch Corporation names Browns Auto Service Inc. as a Bosch Certified Diesel repair facility.
 
Precision Power Trains now becomes Browns Auto Service West.

Browns move to 835 Central and now have 5 service bays.
 
Jim and Everett form a 50/50 partnership and purchase their first building at 615 Central Ave.
 
Browns is incorporated on June 29, 1976.
 
6000 square foot addition is added to the 1144 Broadwater location to handle the growth of sales.
 
Browns Auto Service Inc. purchases Pete’s Automatic Transmission Company giving Browns a third location at 216 N 30th and now 24 bays.
 
Gordon Tryan son-in-law of Jim Brown joins the family business.
 
Browns Auto Service Inc. celebrates 40 years of business with the opening of its new centralized Automatic Transmission Rebuilding Center at 123 N 18th St.
 
The popularity of a quality built transmissions continues to grow. The rebuild center adds on another 4000 square feet to handle the volume.
 
Browns Auto Service Inc. wins the Montana Family Business of the year award from MSU Bozeman.
